This work layers a studio interior against a harbor view, compressing foreground tools, sculptural objects, and furniture into the same visual field as docked boats and distant structures. The composition is organized horizontally, with bands of color and space guiding the eye from the worktable outward. Objects in the foreground—brushes, containers, and a carved form—are rendered with the same attention as the boat beyond the window, collapsing the distinction between inside and outside. The painting resists narrative. Nothing is staged or emphasized beyond its place. The scene holds steady, allowing work, environment, and observation to coexist without hierarchy.
